Eat healthy like an athlete!

The Rio Olympic Games are in full swing. Many people sit in front of the TV every day to cheer for these athletes and wish them to achieve good scores. Besides lots of trainings, daily diet also plays a key role in helping athletes to achieve good scores. 

Take swimming competition for example. Swimming tests athletes’ physical ability such as speed, stamina and strength. In competition, training and recovery swimmers need a significant amount of energy and other nutrients which come almost all from food. Hence healthy and nutritious food is crucial for athletes. However, it doesn’t mean that athletes could or should eat anything and everything. Food containing too high an amount of energy leads to more fat and reduced athletic ability. 

Athletes favor food rich in protein, vitamins and carbohydrate, daily cereals and food containing just a little fat. So fried chicken is definitely not on their menu.

We saw online recently the most successful Olympian ever, Michael Phelps’ breakfast recipe which is quite healthy and lavish in variety, including cheese, eggs, orange juice, tomatoes, lettuces, toasts and oatmeal, yes, oatmeal!

In today’s Myllyn Paras food recipe class we will show you a recipe which included the Phelps’ recipe ingredients orange juice and oatmeal. It has a lovely name called the Sunny Porridge in Microwave, very summer-like, right?

Before we begin making this porridge, we need to prepare the ingredients: 

  • The main ingredient of course is the oatmeal. Here we recommend you Myllyn Paras Quick Cooking Oatmeal. 100g should be enough for 1 person. It is rich in dietary fiber and glucan and is sugar and additives free.
  • As for orange juice you can buy any brand available in the market or you can squeeze fresh orange juice by yourself. 100ml is good enough for making the porridge. 
  • In addition, you need to prepare 1 tablespoon honey, 100ml water and a small banana for decoration.
